Neurological Rehabilitation Program
Twin Creeks Hospital’s Neurological Rehabilitation Program provides patients with a comprehensive medical and rehabilitation services they need to return to a high level functional role at home, work, and in the community.
Who should be referred?
This program is designed to meet the unique needs of individuals who have:
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Guillian Barre Syndrome
- Neuropathies
- Other Neurological Deficits
The goals of a neurological rehabilitation program include helping the individual to return to the highest level of function and independence, and improving the overall quality of life for that individual-physically, emotionally, and socially. A neurological rehabilitation program helps to accomplish the following goals:
- Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, dressing, bathing, using the toilet, handwriting, cooking, and basic housekeeping
- Speech therapy (to help patients who are having trouble speaking, expressing their thoughts, or swallowing; to improve speech patterns, and oral communication
- Counseling ( to deal with anxiety and depression)
- Bladder and bowel retraining
- An exercise program to improve function, safety, maintain range of motion, and to develop the maximum potential of muscles
- Social skills retraining
- Gait and balance retraining
- Nutrition counseling
- Activities to improve cognitive impairments, such as difficulties with concentration, attention, memory, and poor judgment
- Goal setting for the individual and family members
