Therapy and Services

The Therapy Department at Twin Creeks Hospital consists of professional, licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Each therapist has received extensive training to work with patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting through professional certification and continuing education.

During a patient’s entire stay, a team of physical and occupational therapist work with the patient. If it is required per the physician, a speech therapist will be a part of that team as well. The therapy team focuses on individualized treatment sessions with limited group therapy. The therapy team communicates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to provide a continuum of care throughout the patient’s stay at our hospital.

Our physical and occupational therapy staff are trained in NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment) technique. NDT is a hands-on treatment approach with patients who have challenges with impaired mobility due to a neurological injury such as a stroke or brain injury.

Our speech therapy staff is certified in VitalStim Therapy. VitalStim Therapy is a successful form of treatment utilized with patients who have difficulty swallowing. Neuromuscular electrical stimulation is used in conjunction with dysphagia treatment techniques to assist with reeducation of a patient’s swallowing technique as well as facial movements such as smiling.

The therapists at Twin Creeks Hospital are skilled in using the latest therapy equipment to treat patients such as:

Lite Gait System
This system allows for PWB (Partial Weight Bearing) Gait Training. PWB gait training is utilized with patients who have neurological deficits. It allows the therapist to control posture, decrease the amount of weight distributed to a patient’s legs, and retrain a patient on proper patterns for walking.

Wii Rehabilitation
The therapists incorporate the use of the Wii to increase standing tolerance, eye-hand coordination, balance, and cognition.

Twin Creeks Hospital’s multidisciplinary team of therapists, nurses and physicians creates a comprehensive treatment plan customized for each patient.
